Early Head Start

The Talbot County Early Head Start program offers early care, education, and family support to children from birth to three years of age and their families. Our mission is to provide resources and opportunities that nurture children, empower parents, and strengthen families so they may be successful in school and life and become self-sufficient members of their community.​

Spanish speaking staff are available to assist families with enrollment and participation in program services. Other language assistance is available via remote translation. 

Our Early Head Start program is a partner program of the Talbot County Judy Center, Talbot County Infants and Toddlers Program, Healthy Families, and the Talbot County Early Childhood Advisory Council.

Early Head Start Services

  • Limited extended day childcare for those who qualify
  • Referrals to Adult Education Classes, such as GED and ESL (English as a Second Language)
  • Parenting Education and Parent Support groups

The Early Head Start Program is licensed by the Office of Child Care and a Maryland State Department of Education EXCELS participating program.

Program Eligibility

Early Head Start is a federally funded, income-based program. Most families must meet Federal Poverty income guidelines, which vary based on family size and other factors. 

Children participating must be under three years of age.

The program Referral Form must be completed in its entirety and mailed to the address above, emailed to our office, or faxed to (410) 820-6958.
