Dr. Fahmi Presents Comprehensive Public Health Update to Board of Health
EASTON, MD – On September 9, 2025, Talbot County Health Officer Dr. Fahmi Fahmi presented a comprehensive overview of the department’s achievements and strategic priorities to the Board of Health. The presentation, which received enthusiastic support from board members, showcased remarkable program successes while addressing current public health challenges facing our community.
Major Program Achievements Highlighted:
- Record-Breaking Rabies Prevention: The department’s rabies clinics achieved a 278% increase in pet vaccinations from 2023 to 2025, protecting 265 animals across two community clinics
- Comprehensive Vaccination Services: Administered 875 vaccinations from August 2024 to June 2025, including flu, COVID-19, HPV, and childhood immunizations
- Groundbreaking Vision Care Initiative: The first-of-its-kind Global Vision Clinic provided free comprehensive eye exams and glasses to 29 public school students, establishing a replicable model for future community health initiatives
- Mobile Integrated Health Unit Success: This innovative collaboration with the Department of Emergency Services served 47 patients in the past fiscal year, 25 in the first 6 months of this year, providing in-home healthcare to reduce unnecessary ER visits and keep vulnerable residents safely in their homes
