Senior Services Program Receives Grant from Mid-Shore Community Foundation

The Talbot County Health Department is proud to announce that its Senior Care Program has been awarded a $75,000 grant from the Mid-Shore Community Foundation, to be distributed over the next three years. This funding, made possible through the Albert and Diane Miller Fund, will directly support efforts to help older and disabled adults in Talbot County remain safely in their homes and communities for as long as possible.

The Senior Care Program provides critical support to older adults at risk of institutionalization by coordinating services and covering costs that are not typically reimbursed by insurance, such as medical supplies and equipment, prescription co-pays, adult day care transportation assistance, and in-home care. These services are often out of reach for low- to moderate-income residents, and demand has continued to grow in recent years.

Without this additional funding, the program would be facing difficult decisions such as service reductions and waitlists. The support from Mid-Shore Community Foundation comes at a crucial time and ensures that Talbot County’s most vulnerable residents continue receiving the care and assistance they need.

We extend our deepest gratitude to the Mid-Shore Community Foundation, the Albert and Diane Miller Fund, and the broader community of supporters who make this work possible. Their generosity helps preserve the independence, dignity, and quality of life of older and disabled adults throughout Talbot County.
